Dr. Sam Maxwell is a rheumatologist passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centred care for people with rheumatological and musculoskeletal conditions.

After completing undergraduate training in physiotherapy and working in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, he subsequently completed his medical degree with distinction from the University of Melbourne. Dr. Maxwell undertook his rheumatology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Northern Health, Austin Health, and Western Health, earning fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

He currently holds public hospital appointments as a consultant rheumatologist at Northern Health, Western Health and Austin Health. He has an interest in interstitial lung disease related to autoimmune conditions and currently works in the interstitial lung disease clinic at Western Health.

Sam is involved in teaching medical students with the University of Melbourne. He is also involved in physician training at Northern Health and Western Health.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Maxwell enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He stays active through running and mountain biking.
